Plywood During the War

House & Garden magazine, November 1946

1946

Despite the House & Garden magazine editor’s enthusiasm for the Eames Child’s Chair featured on their Christmas gifts cover, the chair was never widely available. The Eameses’ furniture partner, Herman Miller, declined to distribute it due to the uncertainty of the children’s market. The Eameses’ friend Alexander Girard carried some in his Michigan store, but there is no other record of the chairs being sold. Ray and Charles gave many away.
