Fiberglass Side Shell
Charles Eames, Ray Eames
1959
For Ray and Charles, design was an ongoing process, and the wide variety of colors in this exhibition is evidence of how actively engaged they were. In their lifetimes, no colors went into production without them first approving the samples. The shell here is Navy Blue.
A backward “B”; an embossed Herman Miller logo; and “OCT 1959”, handwritten on a rectangular sticker, are on the underside of the shell. “11, Navy Blue, 12-13-4” is handwritten on a circular sticker on the reverse.
