This is an abstract painting from Ray’s years studying at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in New York City. This oval still life could be her last painting at the Hofmann School after it moved to its final location at 52 West 8th Street. Kaiser’s fellow students that spring included Lee Krasner, Perle Fine, and Fritz Bultman.
