DSX-36

Charles Eames, Ray Eames

c. 1971

In 1966, the Eames Office and Herman Miller introduced a new family of upholstered fiberglass chairs, referred to collectively as the Dash-Ninety Nine. The seat backs of these chairs were Naugahyde, and the seats themselves were fabric. This chair also features the “posture pad” molded back. DSX-36 stands for Dining (height) Side (chair) X (base) 36 (this type of upholstery on a posture pad chair).

The Cincinnati Milling Machine Company logo (“C” with a six-pointed star) and the Herman Miller logo and word mark are embossed on the underside of the shell. There is also a paper manufacturer's label.
